JUDAH LEAVES GOD AND BECOMES CAPTIVE

"And the Lord God of their fathers sent warnings to them by His messengers, rising up early and sending them, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place. But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against His people, till there was no remedy.” (2 Chronicles 36:15-16)

People weep. People suffer. They cry and suffer from the fruits of their rebelliousness. They played with God's grace. They turned away from the Lord. They believed that God's promises of protection and care would be fulfilled only by giving importance to the formal aspects of religion, even though their hearts had long been estranged from God. Today's text is expressive in this regard.

The greatness of the Lord's mercy is shown by the fact that He constantly sent warnings to them through His messengers. What a moving statement! How God loved that sinful and rebellious nation!

God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. A God of love who does not want the death of the wicked but wants them to repent and return to the path of life.

I have seen people, who were rejected by society, accept God's invitation and return to God. I have known unrepentant atheists who mocked the sacred, but one day, touched by the Holy Spirit, they fell at Jesus’ feet, and recognized their rebelliousness.

What would become of you and me if one day God's love had not conquered us! Unfortunately, the inhabitants of Jerusalem mocked the divine messengers to the point that God stopped insisting.

However, over time God always invites His children to come back. So He does today as well.

Take Action

Today is the day of good news. Today is the day of salvation. What will be your response to the divine call? Will you ignore it, even though you know that He only seeks your good?
