“For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14
Nothing in the lives of God's children happens by chance. Esther had come to the kingdom unexpectedly. It was no mere coincidence. The divine plan was unfolding in her life. However, even though God had been good to Esther, the enemies wished to destroy her people. It has always been this way throughout history. Dare to be faithful to God's principles and you will see that all the fury of the enemy will come upon you.
In the case of Israel, the devil was using Haman to persecute Mordecai and his people. The strategic plan of destruction was drawn up, but Mordecai enlisted the help of Queen Esther. In his dialogue with her, he made three things clear. First, her trust should be in God and not in herself. He knew that God would not abandon them, even if the queen refused to do it. So he told Esther that even if she kept quiet, God would manage to help His people.
Second, Mordecai reminded the queen that even though the safety of the people depended on God, she was to be faithful to the Lord for her own safety and salvation. It was not only a gesture of altruism towards others but of taking care of her own personal and spiritual integrity. In other words, since you are hesitant to do it for others, do it at least for yourself.
But the Lord had allowed Esther to come to the kingdom for a purpose. This principle also applies to us today. God allows us to come to certain positions in life with an intention. And we need wisdom to find that reason and fulfill it.
Take Action
Are you thinking about finding a better place to serve God? Think about it. And while you are at it, serve Him wherever you are. Whatever needs to be done, do it wholeheartedly, trusting that God will do what you cannot do. Sing "Who Knows?" (if possible, with your family).
