“Say among the nations, ‘The Lord reigns; the world also is firmly established, it shall not be moved; He shall judge the peoples righteously.’” Psalm 96: 10
Today I would like to write a text that will bring joy to sad hearts. A text capable of lifting up the fallen and showing them that there is still hope. So that the couple about to divorce suddenly sees, at the bottom of the well, a faint ray of light and knows that all is not lost. So that the father of the young drug addict understands that his son can be free.
Oh, how I wish I could tell the person who was given no hope by medical science that the dire need of man is God's opportunity! I would like to be the sun of a new day, announcing that the night is gone and that there is no longer any reason to be afraid. Those tears are the memory of a challenging time, but that a new day is being born.
I would like to do all that. And I only have a piece of paper and a pencil. I just have my own fears, my faulty humanity, and my limitations. Still, I want to continue to be the trumpet that announces victory. That is why I go to the Bible and take refuge in the eternal Word of an unchanging God who transcends time and governs space. It is my God and yours. And He commands us: "Say among the nations, 'The Lord reigns!'"
That is why I tell you the truth, though the shadows of sorrow envelop you, though there are no stars in your heaven, though your cistern has no water, and though your dreams seem to crumble like a sandcastle, He will do wonders in your life. For through God "the world is firmly established, it cannot be moved; He will judge the peoples with equity."
Take Action
Wait on Him! It seems to you that His promises are delayed, but they are real, like the sun shining beyond the dark clouds. Learn to trust Him and you will desire more and more to proclaim His justice to the world; that is, His love! Sing "He Shall Judge the Earth" (if possible, with your family).
