"Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me." Psalm 139: 7-10
If you have ever dreamed of going to space, your dream can come true for a few million dollars. The Russian Space Agency offers this service to the International Space Station for a few million aboard the Soyuz spacecraft. But hurry! Apparently, there are reservations up to a year in advance. However, if you want to go there to hide from God, forget it! His Spirit will follow you and pursue you until He finds you.
Have you ever wondered why evildoers choose the night to commit their crimes? Why do places of sin open their doors during the dark hours? There is in the subconscious of the human being the idea that shadows can hide it, and perhaps they can! But they can hide it from other human beings, not from God. In the chapter of today's verse, we read that to God "the night shines as the day" (v. 12). For Him, there is no night, no darkness, and no shadows. God is the light itself. His world is transparent, illuminated, and clean.
The darkness does not hide you from anything, it wraps you in its black sheet to choke you in the prison of your guilt. It suffocates you, it drives you crazy, and it makes you lose track of order. It creates imaginary ghosts from your own fantasies, and those born in your life of gloom.
God wants you to live in the light of His presence. That is why He calls you, goes after you, and breaks the power of darkness. There is no distance to hide you. No darkness to prevent me from seeing you and taking care of you.
