HE WILL STRAIGHTEN YOUR PATHS

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3: 5,6

Have you ever taken a wrong path and it took you a long time to realize it? You would feel frustration and disappointment. You wasted time and effort. I worked as a missionary in the Amazon of my country, and on some occasions, I took the wrong path. I know what it means to feel the menacing darkness approaching, bringing in its shadows the dangers of the jungle.

Although a physical loss can be risky, the loss of the soul is far more dangerous and fatal. The poet Carmen Canto lamented: "We get lost on the sidewalk of nothingness, we endure the aromas of absence and death [...]; Surprised, observing yesterdays without tomorrow and forms without heartbeat or sanity. Again, I feel the coldness of this world in my wounds [...]. Once again, life is silent, and I cannot find a cure."

Centuries ago, however, the wise Solomon presented the secret to avoiding the loss of the soul. Speaking of God as a Father, he expressed what we have read in today's text. God knows the path better than anyone else because He is the way. We, human beings, would be happy if we learned to trust in the Lord.

The key phrase in the text is "with all your heart." It is not a split trust. It is complete, whole, and full. It is the humble acknowledgment that we are creatures and God is the Creator. It is the acceptance that, without Him, we will wander in the world like sheep without a shepherd, trying to find the right way and falling into the abyss of our own passions.

Take Action

Do not deny even an atom of your being to the Lord, or do you want to make a mistake again? Let His wisdom shape your prudence. Sing "Trust in the Lord" (if possible, with your family).
