"Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, ‘The dreams of Pharaoh are one; God has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do.’” Genesis 41: 25
God never loses control of history. He knows the past, the present, and the future. Nothing is hidden from His eyes. His foreknowledge transcends time and age. Before interpreting Pharaoh's dream, Joseph told him that God was showing him what He intended to do. The Lord never fails. He directs the destinies of the world. He does so by inspiring the human will, or even by permitting the folly of rebels. But in the end, God accomplishes what He intends. The future does not surprise Him.
When Joseph went to prison, it might seem that things had slipped out of God's control. How did He allow an innocent young man to suffer because of his faithfulness? However, time has shown that the Lord does not fail and that His promises are fulfilled. Strange and mysterious are His ways! But they always lead to the glorious destiny He has in store for His children. The future is in His hands.
When the first outbreak of Covid-19 emerged in China, no one could have imagined that in a few weeks the world would come to a halt like a stubborn horse refusing to move forward. Projects were cancelled. Trips were suspended. Commitments made months in advance had to be postponed. Human dreams came crashing down like a sandcastle. The astonishing thing is that the Bible foretold the scenes of our day centuries in advance: "And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven" (Luke 21:11). Jesus already knew, and He had shown humanity what would happen.
The same Jesus who took care of Joseph and foretold what would happen in the world also knows what He is going to do with you, even if you cannot understand it in the present. Are you willing to listen to Him?
