“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.” Isaiah 30: 21
Tourists visiting Madrid will see the Statue of the Bear and the Strawberry Tree (El Oso y el Madroño) in the colorful Puerta del Sol square. This monument was inaugurated next to the building that once housed the Paris Hotel. In 1986, due to the remodeling of the square, the sculpture was moved to the beginning of Calle del Carmen; and in September 2009, it returned to its original location.
Since its inauguration, El Oso y el Madroño has served as a reference for disoriented tourists. If you get lost in the Spanish capital, just ask any pedestrian where that statue is located and from that point, you will be able to find your right path.
We all need a point or voice of reference in life. Someone to tell us if we are on the right path or not. It would be sad if, wanting to go to the Netherlands, you ended up in the Sahara. The sand of this world is littered with the dry bones of people who vanished because they lost their way. God wants to take us to a safe harbor and that is why He left us the Holy Scriptures.
Isaiah spoke to Judah while Judah sought help from Egypt following Assyria's conquering campaign. The people feared. They did not know what to do; and, humanly speaking, the best option was to seek help from the Egyptians. But then Isaiah told them that it would be best for them to trust in God. Thus, as we read in today's text, they would know the way to follow.
Take Action
God's ways are infallible. You will never be frustrated if you seek His guidance in the Scriptures and guided by the Spirit. If today you need to make an important decision, go to Jesus, talk to Him, meditate on His Word, and wait for guidance from Him. Sing “This Is the Way” (if possible, with your family).
