«Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.» Isaiah 55: 6,7
The desperate mother ran through the crowd and took her three-year-old son, who had gotten lost in that shopping center, in her arms. The compassionate child, upon seeing his mother sobbing, asked her innocently: “Mommy, where did you get lost?”
The incoherence of human beings is reflected in the fact that, in the difficult circumstances of life, they raise their eyes to heaven and, like that child, have the impression that God is lost, or that He has abandoned them. However, the Bible shows us that human beings distanced themselves from God since the beginning. The poor human creature appropriated the life that belonged to God and ran wild in search of a world without horizons, where he could live as he pleased.
God could let the rebellious son continue his race toward self-destruction, but He loves him and for that reason He admonishes him like it appears in today’s text.
Returning to the Lord is the only option for men and women today if they long for the full life that God offers. This invitation is urgent so that, instead of living without hope and in the hands of pain, they can enjoy that fullness as soon as possible.
Therefore, today is the day of good news and today is the day of salvation.
Take Action
Seek the Lord while He may be found! It does not mean that the Lord will hide from you, but that the opposite path, that of faith in self-sufficiency, can harden your heart to the point of no longer hearing God’s voice. Sing “Seek the Lord” (if possible, with your family).
