"For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels." Luke 9: 25,26
I met Julio in the last days of his life. Consumed by AIDS, he was literally skin and bones, sad with sunken eyes. There were no tears in them, but his agonizing gaze reflected the pain of his soul. "I never wanted this for myself," he stammered. "I just wanted to be free and happy." It made sense. No one in his or her right mind desires to have such an ending. People only seek to be happy; but without realizing it, they destroy and lose themselves by following the flow of the majority.
While multitudes run after what is politically correct, those who believe in God's Word and respect its principles seem to be otherworldly beings simply because they respect moral and spiritual values that people consider "obsolete."
We live in days when honesty is mistaken for naivety and punctuality for lack of etiquette. Respecting biblical principles is considered "narrow-mindedness," and the pressure is so strong that there are those who are ashamed to stand up for their convictions and are afraid to say that they are followers of Jesus and believe in the Bible as the inspired Word of God.
But Jesus' warning is that those who choose their own paths, arguing that they are free to do so and to seek new horizons without restrictions, ignore that the path they choose is the path of death. That is why Jesus asked the people of His time and us today: “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?"

Every day brings with it the opportunity to decide for Jesus. Do not be ashamed to follow Him, and neither will the Son of Man be ashamed of you when He comes in His glory.
