«Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.» Philippians 2: 5-7
Jesus’s attitude towards the problems of life is admirable. He always goes to the root, to the bottom, to the origin of everything. He is not distracted by what is around it, nor does He give much importance to external issues. He does not underestimate what is seen, but His intention is not to place a patch to hide the wound but to heal the infection that devours the soul.
Jesus lived that message. He was not holy because of what He did or did not do, but He did wonders because He was holy. Although He did a lot, He did not focus on doing, but on being. And He was and is humble, as He demonstrated in His time on Earth (cf. Matt. 11:29). Paul alludes to this when he speaks of His “mind” and exhorts us to make it our own; that is, to follow His model of humility.
Feeling is not something we see. It is something internal. The food you are served at a special dinner may be bland, but you smile out of politeness. Guests see your smile but not your displeasure. Feeling, on the other hand, happens on the inside. Only you know what you are feeling.
Christ was God. One with the Father and with the Spirit. And yet He became human and humbled Himself until He was crucified and died the death that only the worst criminals of His time suffered. What He did for us was noble, grand, and extraordinary. But that was the natural result of His love. First, He loved us unto death; then He was crucified.
Real Christianity transforms. Christ uproots selfishness, pride, and vanity, he gives us a new heart. New motivations. We no longer give so much importance to superficial things.

If the God of the universe gave us such an example of humility, how can those of us who claim to follow Him be proud or selfish? Are you willing to share Jesus’s mind?
