WHY DO YOU NEED THE BIBLE?

“But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." 2 Timothy 3: 14-16

Eugene closed the novel filled with crime, sex, and blood that he was reading. He got up from the couch in front of the fire, went to the window, and opened it to see what was going on outside. His face, that was warmed by the heat of the fire, received the icy air of the winter night.

The dog was barking insistently. Eugene called him. The animal went to the window and then went back to the little forest next door, barking. "Who's there?" cried out Eugene, and his voice was lost in the darkness and cold. The only response he got was a loud growl from the dog. The young man stood still, thinking what to do. Fear gripped him. He had heard many stories of robberies, and he was alone that night. He wanted to think about God, but his mind, conditioned by the plot of the book, only gave rise to panic, and his heart trembled. He felt more alone, fearful, and helpless than ever.

Everything we read, like what we see and hear, feeds our minds for better or worse. We are not invulnerable to its influence.

In today's text, Paul advises us to allow ourselves to be influenced by the Word of God, which is able to make us wise. The Bible is a realistic but positive book. Its message, centered on Jesus, inspires us, and gives us strength and courage in the face of life's challenges.

Night comes, but God's promises light up your heart. The storm arises, but do not be frightened because you know that God has promised you that nothing and no one can destroy those who trust in His protective care.

Take Action

Trust in God and in His Word, remembering that divine inspiration pulses in it and that its protagonist is Jesus, the living Word. May your leitmotif be to follow Him in order to become like Him. Sing "All Scripture" (if possible, with your family).
