11 December | EVERYONE
«The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.» 2 Peter 3: 9,10
It may seem like it is taking a while. From the hundred-year-old human perspective, it may be taking too long. That is what many believe and that is why they do not pay attention to the urgency of the times we live in, and even mock those who believe in the imminent return of Jesus. However, Peter makes it clear that the Lord does not delay His coming but waits patiently for you and me to abandon our path of rebellion and return to His arms.
But the apostle says that Jesus will come! When the day and hour of His return come up in the divine agenda, the Heavens will open with a great roar and the Lord will appear with the sound of a trumpet and accompanied by thousands and millions of angels.
On that day, humanity will be divided into two groups. The first will raise their arms, with their faces illuminated, to receive the Lord, whom they served and worshipped. The second will run to the rocks and the mountains, asking them to fall and bury them, so that they will not see the glory of the King of kings and Lord of lords.
Today is time for preparation. There is room in both groups. It is the responsibility of each individual to decide his or her own destiny. It is not a time for indecision because “the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night.” It will be a surprise. When the majority of humanity believes that there is nothing new and that everything is business as usual.
In which of the groups will you be? Today is the day of good news, today is the day of salvation!
Take Action
God waits, but His promise will not fail. If He “tarries” it is because He wants all to be saved (“come to repentance”). Does this not convince you of His infinite love? Think about it. Therefore, do not doubt that He will complete your salvation. Sing “Looking for His Coming” (if possible, with your family).
