“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen." Jude 1: 24,25
Jude ends his short epistle by highlighting Jesus' wonderful work on behalf of His followers. He began the letter by addressing those who persevere in Jesus (Jude 1). He then exhorts Christians to avoid dangerous men and to keep themselves in God's love (Jude 21). And it ends with an impressive doxology that instills hope and peace in the hearts of believers.
Persons who stand victorious before God’s glory on the final day will have remained unfallen and unblemished. It is a high standard for any human being. It is not just about appearance, it is about inner authenticity. Who can reach it? But hope is based on the promise from "He who is able" to keep us clean. Oh, it is no human work but God’s. It is not the poor sinful creature who, by himself, remains unblemished and unfallen. It is "God our Savior, who alone is wise" who assures this.
What, then, is human responsibility? Just go to Jesus to live with Him in a daily and constant experience of close relationship. It is His wondrous power that keeps from falling and is unblemished. The human being, dragged down by the sinful nature from which he will only be freed at the coming of Jesus, needs to be aware of his fragility and hide like a helpless child in the mighty arms of Jesus.
There is no salvation without Christ. There is no justification, sanctification, or glorification without Him. Therefore, all eternity will be insufficient to exalt His name and to glorify Him "now and forever."
