«They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.» Revelation 7: 16,17
History is coming to an end. Christ will return to claim His faithful people, and He will take them for a thousand years to Heaven. Then He will bring them back to be the inhabitants of a totally renewed and transformed Earth. Revelation ends by detailing the final victory of Jesus and His redeemed, and the complete eradication of sin. All who chose to follow Him will finally go home with Christ.
The prophet Isaiah, for his part, states that in that heavenly home the redeemed “shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. They shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat” (Isa. 65:21-22).
Can there be greater social justice than this? The struggle between capital and labor will have ended. There will be no more exploitation of man by man, no more social classes, no more differences in people’s purchasing power (James 5:1-3). Violence will also come to an end: “‘The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, the lion shall eat straw like the ox, […]. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,’ says the Lord” (Isa. 65:25).
This is the end of sin and the beginning of a life without limits. The promise is clear. The terrible consequences of sin, such as hunger, thirst, global warming, will be extinguished forever. In view of this renewed land, the sadness and suffering will disappear, and tears, which are a symbol of sorrow and pain, will no longer disturb human happiness because God will take his children and “wipe away every tear from their eyes”.
