“Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel: ‘Sun, stand still over Gibeon; and Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.’ So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the people had revenge upon their enemies.” Joshua 10:12-13
Courtney Stensrud and her husband say their three-year-old daughter is a "divine miracle." And they are right. The U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warns that "infants born before 32 weeks have elevated rates of death and disability." It is considered that a child could have a chance of survival if born after 24 weeks of gestation. There are cases reported as early as 22 weeks, but the Stensruds' baby had not completed 21 weeks.
Baby Stensrud, according to scientists who published her case in the Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics, "may be the earliest survivor to date." In other words: a miracle. Miracles do exist. God is a God of miracles. In chapter 10 of the book of Joshua, we find the account of how the sun and moon stood still so that the people of Israel would have time to finish the battle against the Amorites.
There are many people who believe that the Bible is full of errors because the sun does not stand still, since it is the earth that revolves around the sun. Science can claim that it is physically impossible for the sun to stand still. But Joshua says God made the sun stand still in its tracks. Verse 14 of Joshua 10 states that "there has been no day like that, before it or after it.” The miracle really happened, and Israel won the battle.
Just as in the case of baby Stensrud and in the experience of Joshua and Israel, we too are the fruits of God's miracles. We survive because the Lord keeps His promises. This God of miracles is your God. Let Him always be the Lord of your life.
Take Action
As Joshua knelt in the middle of battle to plead with God for a miracle, get down on your knees and ask the Lord to perform the miracle you need in your life (Not the one you want, but the one you need; this will be the one that will really help you.).
