GOD KEEPS HIS PROMISES

"So the Lord gave to Israel all the land of which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and dwelt in it. The Lord gave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; the Lord delivered all their enemies into their hand.” Joshua 21:43-44

Today's text presents a summary of how God's promises to the people were faithfully fulfilled. From the time they came out of captivity in Egypt, to their pilgrimage in the wilderness until the conquest of Canaan, the Lord accompanied the children of Israel. He protected them, fought their battles, made it easier for them to possess the land, and gave them peace.

Among the many attributes that characterize God, three are in a special way directly related to human beings: His power, manifested in our creation; His redeeming love, expressed through Jesus, who came to die on the cross for our sins; and His constant faithfulness, proven in the maintenance of our lives and the fulfillment of His promises.

Jeremiah, after going through times of uncertainty and questioning God, unmistakably recorded his experience: “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness." (Lam. 3:22-23).

The Lord never fails. We, as human beings, fail. He does not. Everything is fulfilled in the experience of those who walk with Him every day, and of those who allow themselves to be guided and directed by His Spirit and seek Him above all else. The great challenge of Christian life still is to live with God all the time. Time to meditate on His Word and to open our hearts to Him as to a friend, but also to maintain a constant relationship with Him. Thus, you learn to hear His voice. And, of course, time and purpose to share the knowledge of your salvation with others.

God is faithful. Just as He did with Israel, He will fulfill all His promises in your life. Are you willing to do your part?
