«And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’”» Genesis 3:2-3
God always visited Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, where they would live happily and never die. He told them how the plants grew, how the animals built their little houses and many other interesting things.
There was a special tree in the middle of the garden. They were not supposed to eat fruit from this tree. If they disobeyed, they would have to leave the garden and die.
God told them about an angel who had been kicked out of Heaven because he had become mean, proud, and a liar.
One day, Eve walked away from Adam to look at the special tree. Suddenly, a beautiful serpent with colorful wings spoke: “Yes, Eve, you can eat fruit from this tree! You won’t die!” Eve believed the lie of the serpent and ate the fruit. The evil angel who had been kicked out of Heaven tricked her.
Because of this disobedience, Adam and Eve had to leave the garden. And when they grew old, they died. For this reason, death exists.
Let’s practice!
Ask your mom and dad why it’s important to obey them.
