«And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”» Genesis 11:4
After the flood, only Noah’s family was left. Noah’s family grew and the earth was filled with people again.
Once again, thinking that they knew better than God and didn’t need Him, several people began to worship other gods. Many sacrificed their little children during these worships. How sad!
One day, someone had an idea: “Let’s build a tall tower. This way, if another flood comes, we can save ourselves in the tower.” They started to build it, and the tower became so tall it was already touching the clouds.
God saw that this was not good and decided to make the communication between them difficult. At that time there was only one language, but suddenly the builder at the top asked for water and the builder below understood cement. Or he asked for bricks, and they sent him water. They started to fight, and everything became a mess!
Each group of people who understood each other went their separate ways, and the people scattered. Now there was no longer just one language, but several.
Let’s practice!
Find out how to say hello in three different languages.
