«Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.» Genesis 12:1-2
Do you like the house and the city where you live? Do you have friends? Do your grandparents, uncles and cousins live near you? What would it be like if one day your dad said: “We are going to move out from our house and to another town?” You would ask where to, wouldn’t you? What if your dad answered that he didn’t know where?
After people went their separate ways because of the confusion of languages, they became more and more idolatrous; in other words, they worshiped many idols. God was being forgotten.
Then God called a man named Abram. He loved and served God. God asked Abram to leave his home, his land and his friends without knowing where he was going.
Abram was already more than 60 years old, but God had a great task for him. That is why he had to get away from all those pagan people.
Sometimes we need to get away from friends who are not good for us, don’t we?
Let’s practice!
Tell your parents who your best friends are and why you like them.
