The Lost Book

«I found the book of the law in the house of the Lord.» 2 Kings 22:8

Josiah became king of Judah when he was only eight years old! From an early age, he loved God with all his heart.

Almost twenty years after becoming king, Josiah asked the priest Hilkiah to provide money to renovate the house of God, which was very old and damaged. Wood and stones were purchased, Hilkiah found carpenters and builders, and they began the work.

One day, while the renovation was going on, Hilkiah found a book and got excited. It was the book of the law! During the reign of the previous kings, this book had been despised and lost! They were not worried about obeying God.

Soon the book reached the hands of the king, and when he saw what it contained—blessings if people were obedient, and curses if they were disobedient—he became desperate.

He promoted a spiritual reformation in the kingdom, and God blessed them.

Let’s practice!

Do you have a book of the law, a Bible, at home? Ask your mom to read a commandment from Exodus 20.
