If My People Pray

«If my people [...] humble themselves and pray, [...] I will hear from heaven.» 2 Chronicles 7:14

After the house of God was built, there was a great celebration. God was very pleased, and His glory filled the temple. Then the king and the people offered sacrifices before God and consecrated everything in the temple to Him.

On this occasion, God made a covenant with Solomon. A covenant is something that two people agree upon. When two people marry, they promise to be faithful to each other. This is how it is with God. God told Solomon that if His people would be humble, always pray, seek Him every day, repent for every sin and stop doing wrong, God would answer their prayers, forgive their sins and give them abundance.

God made a promise to them, but the people also had to keep their part of this covenant. If they disobeyed God, He could not fulfill His promise, and they would suffer greatly. Were the people obedient?

Let’s practice!

Do you always obey your parents?
