«Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”» Genesis 22:1-2
Abraham and Sarah were so happy with little Isaac! He was happy, playful and obedient! Everyone loved him.
Abraham was already a hundred years old, and Sarah was a little younger. Then God asked him something very strange: to sacrifice his son on Mount Moriah.
The old father trembled! He couldn’t understand why the son who was promised to him to form a great nation should die… He loved his son very much!
But Abraham obeyed, even though his heart was saddened. He and Isaac walked to the mountain. Then the father explained to his son that on that day, he himself would be the sacrifice. Even though he was frightened, Isaac was obedient and trusted God’s plans.
But something happened! Just as the father was about to take his son’s life, God stopped him! He did not want Abraham to sacrifice his son but wanted to prove his faith. God was pleased that Abraham trusted in Him, and approved of him!
