«What evil thing is this that you do, by which you profane the Sabbath day?» Nehemiah 13:17
After the celebration feast for rebuilding the walls and the city of Jerusalem, the people needed to reform their hearts as well. They had the book of the law that taught them right from wrong. Their leaders, Ezra and Nehemiah, wanted to help them put the laws into practice.
They had to make several changes. There were enemies, the Moabites and Ammonites, who had harmed the people in the past. They were not a part of God’s people and could not become members of the people by marrying Israelites. They were driven out.
Then all the temple work was restarted with the presence of the Levites, special men who would take care of the temple services.
Once again, the Sabbath was kept as it should be. Slowly the people started to be the people God had asked them to be.
Let’s practice!
Do you also need to reform your heart before God? Draw a heart and tell your mom what you want your heart to look like.
