Queen Esther

«Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?» Esther 4:14

Esther was an orphan girl who lived with her cousin Mordecai. They were Jews taken captive and lived in Shushan, an important Persian city.

One day, King Ahasuerus sent out people to find a wife for him. She should be the most beautiful and special of all the young women of the kingdom.

Esther was taken to the palace, and the day she was shown to the king, he fell in love with her! What now? What if the king knew she was Jewish?

The king had a very evil helper named Haman. He hated Jews and came up with a plan to destroy them all.

When Queen Esther heard about it, she was afraid. But her cousin encouraged her to do something. She prayed with her attendants and fasted. God gave her wisdom to tell the king about evil Haman’s plan.

The king listened to her, had Haman killed and protected the Jews in the kingdom.
