Jehovah Is My Light

«The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?» Psalm 27:1

Do you like to stay in the dark? It’s not nice. We can’t see anything, and we might stumble. When there is light, we can see everything and it’s easier to walk without stumbling.

It was David who wrote Psalm 27. He wrote it when he was suffering a lot. There were angry enemies who wanted to destroy him and who set traps against him. David felt like he was in the dark and he was looking for safety.

Then he remembered the Lord. The Lord would take care of him and would be a light illuminating his path. Even if there were evil and dangerous men coming for him, the Lord would protect him. This is why David said that the Lord was his light and his salvation. He didn’t need to fear!

David’s greatest joy was to be in God’s presence. It didn’t matter if this was in the house of God or some other place where God was.

Let’s practice!

Repeat this verse until you can recite it from memory: “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” (Psalm 27:1).
