Waiting With Patience

«I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me, and heard my cry». Psalm 40:1 (ESV)

When you ask for something and your mom says: “Wait a little while!” do you wait or do you complain and get impatient? There are children who can’t wait… When they hear their dad or someone else tell them to wait, they get angry, and sometimes they say bad words, moan, or cry. These children need to learn to wait. Children who can wait are more intelligent.

As you train yourself to wait patiently for mom and dad, you are learning to wait patiently for God’s answers. God never fails to answer us, but sometimes He doesn’t answer exactly when we ask. So we need to be patient and wait, because He does everything in His time, at the right time.

David already knew this. When he waited patiently on the Lord, the Lord answered, and David sang hymns to God full of joy and gratitude.

Let’s practice!

Pray to God, saying: “Dear God, help me to wait patiently for Your answers. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
