Guard Your Heart

«Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.» Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)

Drinking water is very important to live. Did you know that we can go a longer period without food than without water?

In the East, the land that Jesus passed through, water was not found very easily. When people dug a well or discovered a water source, they took very good care of the location and even put someone to watch over it. When an enemy community wanted to take revenge on another, they would fill their wells with dirt and stones.

Imagine an evil person coming along and throwing dirt or poison into the well! Many people would drink that water and could even die. The water had to be well taken care of!

Our hearts must also be well taken care of. In the old days people believed that they thought with their hearts. But we think with our brain, don’t we? So we can say: “Take care of your head and your mind, to think of things that are good and that come from God. Then you will choose only what is good and you will be happy.”

Let’s practice!

Draw a head that only thinks of good things.
