«Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.» Proverbs 12:1
Do you like it when your grandma says: “Boy, don’t put your hand in that box,” or “Daughter, clean that shoe again,” or “Eat your salad first?” Neither children nor adults are very happy when someone tells them what to do. Everyone likes to be free to do what they want, isn’t that right?
But since we don’t always know what is best, sometimes we must accept when someone corrects us, teaches us, or tells us “no.”
Children and wise adults accept when a good person tries to teach them something important. But foolish children and adults hate receiving advice and don’t accept it.
I hope you are a wise child and will always accept it when you receive good advice.
Let’s practice! Let’s repeat the verse until we speak it by heart? “He who loves instruction loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid” (Proverbs 12:1).
