A Wonderful Promise

«For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.» Isaiah 9:6

Do you remember what happened in Eden? Adam and Eve had been created to live forever. But they disobeyed God and would no longer live forever. God had promised them that He would send His Son to die in their place.

Many years passed. Because of Adam’s sin, the world was getting darker and darker. Many people did not know God, and many who did know Him no longer cared about Him. Many moms and dads no longer told their children the story of Adam and Eve and what God had promised. So, God called Isaiah to tell this story to the people.

And he began to tell it: “People, a baby is going to be born! He will be a king, He will be God, and He will bring peace to the world. He will be Wonderful!” Many people were happy to hear this wonderful promise, but others didn’t care. What a shame!

Let’s practice!

Yesterday you prayed to tell someone about Jesus. Pray for the same thing again today.
