«Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.» Isaiah 41:10 (ESV 2016)
Have you ever been afraid to sleep alone? I have! When I was a child, I spent a few weeks at my grandmother’s house, and at night I was afraid. So, she would stay with me until I slept.
God’s people had been taken as slaves to Babylon. There, they were afraid of their enemies, but they also felt a lot of sadness. They cried because they wanted to be in their country, with their family. Then, God gave them comfort. They didn’t have to be afraid, even in that country far away from theirs, because they were God’s chosen people. And God was with them. God was their protector! God strengthens! God helps! God sustains! And they felt relieved and happy for this comfort!
Let’s practice!
Memorize the verse: “Fear not, for I am with you” (Isaiah 41:10). Thank God because He always takes care of you.
