«Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard its spots? Then may you also do good who are accustomed to do evil.» Jeremiah 13:23
Do you want to be a good child? What does it mean to be a good child? It means to be loving, obedient, patient, respectful, kind...
Is it easy to be a good child? It’s not. It’s neither easy to be a good child nor to be a good adult. Do you know why? Because we are all born with tendencies to be bad. Being bad is in our nature.
Have you ever seen a leopard full of spots? Can the leopard by itself change the color of its spots? No. Likewise, a boy whose skin is white can’t change the color of his skin to yellow, nor can a boy whose skin is yellow change his skin to black. In the same way, you cannot be a good child by yourself.
Jesus needs to live in your heart for you to be a good child. Then, the will of Jesus will begin to be your will, and the kindness, patience and love of Jesus will begin to be a part of you. Do you want to be good like Jesus? I do too!
Let’s practice!
Pray to God, saying: “Dear God, I want to be good, just like Jesus. Please, help me! In Jesus’ name, amen.”
