God Prepares a Deliverer

«Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.» Exodus 3:10

Kind Joseph grew old and died. His family had multiplied a lot in Egypt! The new king had never met Joseph, so he was afraid that this huge family would fight against Egypt, so he turned all the Hebrews into slaves and ordered the baby boys that were born to be killed.

One day, a beautiful little baby boy was born. His mom and dad hid him for a while. Then his mom wove a little basket, put the baby in it, and set it afloat on the Nile River while Miriam, his sister, watched over it from afar.

The princess was bathing in the Nile and, when she saw the baby in the basket, adopted him as her son. Miriam quickly approached her and asked if she would like a nanny to care for the child. The princess accepted! And the baby, who was named Moses, returned to his mom and dad’s house protected because he had become the son of the princess!

Moses stayed with his family until he was twelve years old. There he learned all about the God of Heaven, about Adam and Eve’s history of disobedience, and about God’s great desire to take care of His people and deliver them.

God had a special job for Moses!

Let’s practice!

Can you remember a time when God and the angels protected you from something bad? Repeat this: God protected me because He had a plan for me, just as He had a plan for baby Moses!
