«Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.» Lamentations 3:22
The prophet Jeremiah was also a poet. He wrote some poems that were used in the special meetings of the people.
Jeremiah was desperate! Just imagine! His city was all destroyed! He could only see houses torn down, people wandering the streets dressed in rags and looking for food. Many of his friends were living as slaves in Babylon. Many had died.
Jeremiah cried a lot! His heart ached because he was suffering so much!
Then, he remembered that, even though the people were suffering because they were disobedient, God still loved them. God would still be kind to them.
When you are sad, you also need to remember that God loves you. Every day He shows you His goodness: He gives you sunshine, rain, food, a bed, friends and many other things! So, we can trust Him!
Let’s practice!
Thank Jesus for what you received today!
