«Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me.» Ezekiel 3: 17
Atalaya is an Arabic word that means “observation tower.” Towers are special places. The castles and gates of ancient cities had such towers. In these towers, a watchman keeps watch. If he notices someone coming, he must check if it is an enemy and soldiers will stop him.
This watchman is also called an atalaya. The safety of the people in the city or castle depended on this watchman. If he did not warn them of danger, they could die.
God called special young men to be His watchmen. Jeremiah was one of them. Ezekiel was another. Their task was to transmit to the people the messages that God gave them.
Did you know that today God also calls watchmen? You can be one of them. God wants you to tell to your friends what is in God’s Word.
Let’s practice!
Tell your mom what you, as a watchman, want to tell your friends.
