«But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you from my hands?» Daniel 3:15
King Nebuchadnezzar wanted to be worshiped by the whole nation and to prove that his kingdom would last forever. So, he ordered a statue the size of a building to be built, all covered in gold.
The most important people in the kingdom were invited to the ceremony. The trumpets were to sound and everyone was to kneel before the statue. Whoever disobeyed would be thrown into a very large furnace to be burned.
Daniel’s friends were faithful to God and only worshiped Him. They said: “We will not worship the statue!”
The king was furious and had them thrown into the fiery furnace. The soldiers who threw them could not stand the heat and died. And what about the young men who were thrown in? Nothing happened to them, and suddenly the king saw a fourth person in the furnace. It was Jesus.
The world needs brave young men like that!
Let’s practice!
Do you want to be like those young men? Draw a furnace with the boys in it. Pray to God to have the same courage they had, and also to be faithful to Him.
