«My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him.» Daniel 6:22
Daniel was very intelligent and an excellent palace official, and the king gave him an important position. He was faithful to God and prayed three times a day.
Darius, the new king of the nation, liked him very much. This made the other officials of the king jealous of Daniel. They wanted to find something wrong with Daniel to speak poorly about him to the king, but they couldn’t find anything.
So, they decided to create a law forcing people to pray only to the king. Whoever disobeyed the law would be thrown into the den of hungry lions and tricked the king into signing it.
Ah, when they saw Daniel on his knees praying to God, they ran to tell the king about it. How sad! The king had to send his friend to the lions’ den.
The king couldn’t even sleep that night. Early the next morning, he went to the den and called out: “Daniel, has your God protected you from the lions?”
“Yes, my king! I am here! An angel closed the lions’ mouths.”
What a joy! Then the king punished the wicked men who had developped that law.
Let’s practice!
Draw Daniel in the lions’ den.
