«For though the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vine; though the produce of the olive tree shall fail, and the fields bring forth no meat, yet will I rejoice in the Lord.» Habakkuk 3:17, 18
Have you ever seen a fig tree, a vine and an olive tree? Fig trees produce figs, vines produce grapes and olive trees produce olives. The vine is a bush, and the others are trees—they are all beautiful! They are grown to produce fruit to feed people.
In the times of the people of Israel, there were many of them. The people knew them well. But when the people were driven away by their enemies, the city was destroyed and the abundance of these fruits was no longer seen. Maybe one or two of those trees still produced a little bit. This was very sad.
But many who loved God said: “Our country is destroyed, there is hardly any food, we are poor, but we still have the Lord! The Lord is the most important thing we have. He will not abandon us! So, let's be happy!”
How beautiful to think like this!
Let’s practice!
If you are sad today, remember that you have God! Go in front of the mirror and give a nice smile.
