«Not by might nor by violence, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.» Zechariah 4:6
Who opened the Red Sea for the Israelites to pass through? It was God with His power, not men. Who opened the Jordan River for the people to walk through? It was God with His power, not men. Who sent fire from Heaven on the altar of the prophet Elijah? It was God, not any man. Who tore down the walls of Jericho? It was God, not the warriors of Israel.
God accomplished many wonderful things among the people, didn’t He? The people spent several years in a strange land, and now they were back in their own land. But sometimes they were very discouraged. Would they be able to rebuild the beautiful temple that had first been built by Solomon?
God wanted them to trust Him. How many things He had already accomplished! And God would help them rebuild the temple. They didn’t need to use violence. God would do the work.
Let’s practice!
Draw a globe and glue it over a picture of Jesus. The world belongs to God and He has the power to do a lot more than we imagine!
