«Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.» Mark 10:14
Jesus loved children! How He loved it when they came to Him, offering their love and their smiles! Wherever He went, children ran to Him.
Jewish mothers used to take their little children to a teacher or rabbi so they could bless them.
One day, some mothers went to Jesus with their children. Some were very small, others were older. And others were already teenagers. The disciples frowned at them. They thought they were hindering the work of Jesus. They told them to get out of there.
Jesus didn’t like their attitude. He saw the affection of those mothers in taking their children to Him and knew that they wanted to educate them and teach them about God’s love.
So, Jesus scolded the disciples: “Hey, you are wrong to send the mothers away. Let the children come to Me! Don’t get in the way because My kingdom is theirs too!”
So, Jesus took some of them on His lap, then blessed them all. I imagine the disciples were very embarrassed, but the mothers went home happy! And the children were even happier because they had received the affection of Jesus.
Let’s practice!
Repeat the verse: Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Mark 10:14
