The Vine

«I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without me you can do nothing.» John 15:5

Have you ever seen the plant that produces grapes? It is called vitis, vining plant, or vine. A vine is a plant with a twisted trunk, branches that bend easily and large leaves. It has greenish flowers on the branches. They become the fruit, which is the grape.

The clusters of grapes are so beautiful! The grapes can be black, very dark purple, reddish, or green in color. And they are delicious.

If you pull a branch off the vine trunk, it will dry up. Do you know why? Because the food that the branches receive is on the trunk. Without this food, the branches die and don’t produce grapes.

Jesus said that He is like the vine, and we are the branches. If we are not attached to the trunk, Jesus, we won’t be able to do anything. Jesus said this to teach us about the importance of living with Him every day.

Let’s practice!

Draw a beautiful vine and pray to God asking Him to help you never be separated from Jesus, the trunk.
