«In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.» John 16:33
Jesus knew that His friends would suffer. Jesus knew that Satan would try to destroy them. Satan would send some people to persecute them, mock them, hate them. So, he wanted them to be discouraged.
Jesus knew all this. That is why He told His disciples not to be discouraged when they talked about Jesus and someone laughed at them. Jesus said: “Some days you will weep, or you will be sad because those who were once your friends will become your enemies and get in the way of your work. But don’t be discouraged, okay? I suffered all those things, and I overcame the world! So, you will also overcome!”
What Jesus said is happening today. Many who are preaching about Jesus are persecuted, mistreated, imprisoned, and even killed. But they don’t give up!
Let’s practice!
Repeat the verse: In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. John 16:33
