«Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?» John 21:15
Before the death of Jesus, He had been arrested by soldiers and taken away for questioning.
Peter, one of the disciples, followed Jesus to the place where He was. But he did not want the others to know that he was a friend of Jesus. He was afraid that they would arrest him too.
But some people recognized him and asked him three times if he was a friend of Jesus. Peter lied, denying Jesus.
When Peter saw that Jesus was going to be arrested and killed, he was so desperate that he got out of there and cried and sobbed a lot!
After the death of Jesus and His resurrection, Peter decided to go back to being a fisherman. He thought he was too bad to walk with Jesus again.
But one day, on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, Jesus met him and asked: “Peter, do you love Me?”
Peter replied that he did. And Jesus said: “I want you to keep telling people My story.” Jesus asked this question two more times.
Peter felt sad again. Jesus had asked him three times if he loved Him. Peter remembered that he had denied Jesus three times.
But Jesus had forgiven Peter. Peter felt happy and excited to tell people about Jesus.
Let’s practice!
Ask Jesus to help you to be a disciple of Jesus too, and to tell people about Him.
