The Promise Of The Holy Spirit

«But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me.» Acts 1:8

Jesus had finished His work here on earth. It was time to return to His true home in Heaven. But He wasn’t going to leave His friends by themselves.

So Jesus promised that He would send them God, the Holy Spirit, in His place. Jesus would have another mission in Heaven, and it would be the Holy Spirit who would accompany them in everything they did, helping them, encouraging them and giving them joy to continue telling others the story of Jesus’ love.

As soon as Jesus finished making this promise to His disciples, He began to climb higher and higher, until a cloud covered Him.

Suddenly two angels appeared and said to the disciples: “You are looking up, but you can no longer see Jesus. Don’t worry! This same Jesus that you have just seen will return one day!”

The disciples left there encouraged because the Holy Spirit would soon come to stay with them!

Let’s practice!

One of the symbols of the Holy Spirit is a dove. Can you draw one?
