Saul Becomes A Friend Of Jesus

«And suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”» Acts 9:3, 4

Together with those men who had thrown stones at Stephen, there was a very clever young man. He had also helped those evil men. His name was Saul.

Saul did not believe that Jesus was God and began to persecute those who told His story. He would go out with soldiers looking for all the friends of Jesus that he could find and would arrest them. Everyone who was friends with Jesus had to run and hide.

One day, Saul was going to Damascus with the soldiers to arrest more of Jesus’ friends. Then a very bright light appeared. Saul fell to the ground and heard a voice: “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? You have persecuted and arrested my friends this entire time. Now you know that I am God, so you will become my friend, and will also tell others about my love for them.”

From that day on, Saul never persecuted the friends of Jesus again. He became Paul, a great preacher!

Let’s practice!

Draw the bright light that Saul saw.
