« Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.» Exodus 31:13
Do you remember that on the seventh day God created the Sabbath? God also sanctified this day.
When God gave the ten commandments to the people, he included to keep the Sabbath: “Remember the Sabbath day.”
After the sanctuary was built, God asked Moses once again to tell the people that they should keep the Sabbath day forever. Their children, their grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren should also keep the Sabbath. All generations should keep the Sabbath.
This day was set by God as a sacred and eternal sign that marked those who loved and obeyed God. It would be a mark of faithfulness to God.
Let’s practice!
Pray: “Dear God, thank you for the Sabbath! Help me to faithfully keep it as You desire! Amen!”
