The Furniture Of The Sanctuary

«He made two cherubim of beaten gold; he made them of one piece at the two ends of the mercy seat.» Exodus 37:7

What piece of furniture in your house you like the most?

Did you know that each piece of furniture in the Sanctuary, the house of God that was built in the desert, had a special meaning? They helped people understand the seriousness of sin and God’s forgiveness.

There was a lampstand called a candlestick. It had seven stems where fire was kept day and night.

Inside the Most Holy Place there was the ark of the covenant. It was a box made of wood and covered with gold. Inside of it were the tablets of the Ten Commandments and other important objects.

God was like a teacher. He taught lessons to people through objects. This way people would remember best the lessons.

Let’s practice!

Ask your mom or dad to tell you something interesting about a piece of furniture in your home.
