«One God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.» Ephesians 4:6 (ESV)
After Satan became the king of this world, he made men create other gods. So, many different gods appeared for different tastes and likings. Each nation had its gods.
When the Israelites became slaves in Egypt, they met many gods there. There was the god Set, of confusion; there were the gods Atum-Ra, Isis, Osiris, and several others.
When God sent Moses to ask Pharaoh to let the people go, and he wouldn’t, God sent ten plagues upon the Egyptians. They became desperate. God wanted them to see that their gods couldn’t do anything for them.
When the people of Israel entered the land of Canaan, the Canaanites worshiped many gods as well. One of them was called Molech. He had the body of a man and the head of an ox or lion. His belly had a hole that was used to put fire. Do you know what was placed on his very hot arms to be sacrificed? Children. And there they would burn to death to please this god. That’s very sad, isn’t it?
The God of Heaven was very sad about all of this. That’s why the apostle Paul said that there is only one God for the entire world, who loves everyone, who died for everyone and who invites everyone to be in Heaven with Him.
Let’s practice!
Repeat the verse: “One God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all” (Ephesians 4:6, ESV).
