A Mystery

«Great is the mystery of godliness.» 1 Timothy 3:16

A dear father loved his son very much. He raised him with love and affection, gave him a beautiful home, many gifts, always took him for walks, and told him little stories. His son grew up and became a. young man. One day he said to his father: “Dad, I’m tired of being your son. I want money to spend in my own way, I don’t want your attention and affection anymore. I want to stay far away from you!”

The father was sad. He cried, and asked his son not to leave the house because where he was going was dangerous. His dad didn’t want him to get hurt. But the son took the money and left, made lots of friends, threw parties, and spent all his money.

Without money, no one else wanted to be his friend. Very hungry, he went to eat with the pigs.

Then he decided to go back to his father’s house and see if he would accept him as a servant. Do you know what his dear father did? He accepted him with great love, threw him a feast, and continued to love his son who was ungrateful and who had run away even more!

The name of this father is Jesus. And the sons are all of us. Isn’t this love amazing?

Let’s practice!
