Children Who Are Precious

«Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a work who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.» 2 Timothy 2:15

Timothy was the son of a father who worshiped other gods. But his Jewish mother and grandmother loved God. They taught him to be a soldier of Jesus.

They knew the story of Jesus and decided to serve Him. Timothy was young and he could have chosen to earn a lot of money, but he decided to work for Jesus.

Timothy met the apostle Paul and, since Paul had no children, Timothy became like a son to him. Timothy helped him greatly in taking care of several churches scattered throughout Greece.

When Paul was arrested in Rome, there was an evil emperor, named Nero, who wanted to kill him. Paul was old and thought that he would never see Timothy again, and he worried about his son from the heart.

So, he wrote letters to Timothy: “Dear son, what a beautiful work you are doing for Jesus! Keep it up! Be a faithful soldier of Jesus! Don’t do anything you’ll be ashamed of later.”

Do you think you are too small to tell others the story of Jesus? Always remember Timothy’s story and Paul’s advice to him.

Let’s practice!

You don’t have to grow up to start working for Jesus. What can you do today?
