«Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.» 1 Peter 5:8
Who is your greatest enemy? It is Satan. He is always around you, trying to stop you from doing good things. He wants you to stay away from God. He doesn’t want you to go to Heaven.
Sometimes he imitates angels to deceive people. Sometimes he acts like a roaring lion. Have you ever heard a roaring lion? He is the king of the forest. With his terrible roar he makes everyone tremble with fear, and it becomes easy to attack other animals that are more fragile to eat.
The lion furiously pursues his prey when he feels hungry. So does Satan. He is very insistent that we do things that offend God. “Take that toy that is not yours and hide it for yourself.” “Put your foot in front of that little girl so she will fall.” “Pinch your brother.” “Don’t tell your mom the truth.” “Pull the cat’s tail.”
Let’s practice!
Repeat the verse: “Be sober; be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8).
